Introduction
This article explains how to connect a scanner to the SeeHawk Touch app via Bluetooth and how to make sure Android location permissions are set correctly. On Android, SeeHawk Touch requires the Location permission to be set to Allow All the Time for Bluetooth scanning to work properly.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
A compatible scanner
A mobile device running Android
The SeeHawk Touch app installed on your device
Bluetooth turned on
Why the Location permission matters
Android may require the Location permission for Bluetooth device discovery. If SeeHawk Touch does not have the correct location setting, the app may not be able to find or connect to the scanner.
The default option, Allow Only While Using the App, may prevent the app from functioning correctly when scanning or connecting in the background. For best results, set the permission to Allow All the Time.
Step-by-step instructions
1. Open Android device settings
On your Android device, open Settings.
2. Find the SeeHawk Touch app
Tap Apps, then select SeeHawk Touch from the list of installed apps.
3. Open app permissions
Tap Permissions to view the permissions assigned to the app.
4. Change the Location permission
Tap Location, then select Allow All the Time.
5. Return to SeeHawk Touch and connect the scanner
After updating the permission, return to SeeHawk Touch and try connecting to the scanner again via Bluetooth.
If Allow All the Time does not appear
On some Android devices, Allow All the Time may not appear during the initial permission prompt. If that happens, you can enable it manually through device settings using the steps above.
If you only see Allow Only While Using the App, do not leave the permission at that setting. Update it manually to Allow All the Time so SeeHawk Touch can function correctly.
Troubleshooting tips
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on both the scanner and the Android device.
Confirm that SeeHawk Touch has Location permission set to Allow All the Time.
Close and reopen the app after changing permissions.
If the scanner still does not connect, restart the scanner and the mobile device.
Summary
To connect a scanner to SeeHawk Touch via Bluetooth on Android, make sure the app has Location permission set to Allow All the Time. If the option is not shown during the initial prompt, enable it manually in Settings → Apps → SeeHawk Touch → Permissions → Location → Allow All the Time. The default setting, Allow Only While Using the App, may prevent the app from working correctly.
